TOPIC: ERROR FOSSILIZATION IN WRITING AMONG FORM 5
PUPILS IN SECOND SCHOOL
1 ) 0INTRODUCTION
This study will probably be focusing on mistakes occur in writing among the contact form 5 college students. It will cover the areas of grammar as well as the most prominent errors made by the students. It is not which the errors made are a few of the fossilized structure with their interlanguage. Since this students have learnt English language as their secondary language since they are in kindergarten, there has to be some fossilization occurs inside their interlanguage that could obstruct all of them from totally mastering English as their second language. It is important to know that the mistakes are actually stablizing or fossilization in which the teacher can do something about it. The reduction planning can be as early as form one particular and therefore an intensive research about the errors made especially in writing will probably be helpful for the teachers and schools to cater their particular students considering the needed lessons or skills to learn. Teaching just by following syllabus is not really helpful and there is different levels of students to become catered in class. Hopefully, this kind of research will give more information and idea for teachers to prepare their teaching in future.
2 . 0SUMMMARY OF PREVIOUS EXPLORATION
There are not much researches built to investigate about fossilization amongst second language novice. There are a few of them that focus on the way of standard errors, advanced-learner, corrective reviews and so on. In 1989, Kellerman studied the linguistic features that give go up to the syntactic accent of Dutch-English interlanguage. The hypothesis of the study was if the homogenous backdrop of L1 and the mistakes that not simply stay with the members but also with their most advanced users are a sign of fossilization. So the examine was centering on wide range of Dutch respondents apply English as a second language. The findings display that fossilized structure was obviously a function of intersection of multiple inclinations that are avoidance directly transferring the modal meaning of Dutch past tenses to English earlier tenses, prevention of strength ambiguity and creation of the structural symmetry. The Local language effect was thought to have taken a subtle type.
The study was done in1991 simply by Lennon. This individual claimed that study of just one learner could lead to an complex knowledge of the interlanguage program and anxious that it was essential to conduct longitudinal studies to determine under what circumstances fossilization may emerge (1991: 131). He pieces against the paradoxical issues of вЂtransitional competence and вЂerror fossilization'. This individual found out that his respondent Andrea, a 24 years old postgraduate A language like german learner of English was seen to create systematic and regular mistakes that are form word order with reference to вЂonly' and вЂalready', вЂthere is/there are', вЂhave got', use and overuse of вЂalways' and future period forms (1991: 129). The finding was she has zero improvement overtime, however,, insensitivity to input with out grammar adjustment to only one of the typical problems she manufactured. He claimed that there might be some fossilization operating to her errors (future tense).
There are also a few researches made regarding further feedback to confront any fossilization. Selinker and Lamendella (1979: 373) suggested the conclusion that a particular learner experienced indeed fossilized could be attracted on in case the cessation of further interlanguage learning persisted in spite of the learners' potential, opportunity and motivation to find out the target dialect and acculturate into the target society. The quite newest research was conducted last year by Brian MacWhinney concerning вЂemergent fossilization' where he examined about the cause of fossilization whether this emerges through the effect of critical period hypothesis or the lateralization in human brain especially for mature learners of second language. Therefore , there truly not much studies done to check out fossilization in-depth specifically in the...
